The United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), due to its presence in Poland, will support Polish business interested in Ukrainian reconstruction projects.

Polish business interested in being present in Ukraine will be supported due to establishment of the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) in Warsaw – the UN agency that cooperates with governments, international organizations, non-governmental organizations, and the private sector, offering services that include planning, management, monitoring, and evaluation of development projects. The main task of the UNOPS office in Poland will be to manage the public procurement system for the reconstruction of Ukraine and to carry out projects related to it.

The opening of the office in Warsaw is aimed at strengthening cooperation with the Polish private sector, especially in the context of the implementation of projects related to the reconstruction of Ukraine. The UNOPS office in Warsaw will play a key role in increasing the involvement of Polish companies in tender processes and the implementation of projects under the auspices of the UN. It is an opportunity to take advantage of international projects, especially for companies operating in the field of green transformation, energy, transport and water and sanitary infrastructure.

Polish companies can take advantage of access to co-financing programs and technical support offered by the UNOPS.

This organization provides a variety of services, including project, human resources, and financial management, which can help Polish companies to implement complex international projects. The office is also intended to increase the participation of the Polish private sector in the UN public procurement platform.

The UNOPS has already established cooperation with the UN Global Compact Network Poland – the Polish office of the UN Secretary-General's initiative of businesses working for sustainable development, which has committed to ensuring the widest possible reach among Polish companies.

The UNOPS focuses in Ukraine on reconstruction, crisis response and infrastructure support. The organization is cooperating with the Ukrainian government, the UN agencies, and international partners to address the urgent needs arising from the ongoing conflict.

One of the main UNOPS’ projects in Ukraine is the "Repairing Essential Logistics Infrastructure and Network Connectivity" (RELINC), funded by the World Bank. The aim of the project is to repair damaged transport networks, which are crucial for the economy and mobility of the population. This project includes the delivery and installation of modular bridges to replace damaged bridges, enabling the resumption of local trade and mobility.

In addition to rebuilding communication infrastructure, the UNOPS is also involved in other areas, such as supporting the National Police of Ukraine by providing demining and medical equipment.

The organization supports the renovation of schools and other public facilities, which is crucial to ensure the normal functioning of educational and social services in the conflict-affected country. They have supplied more than 900 generators across the country, providing energy, heat, and water supply to residents. The UNOPS projects have made it possible to repair more than 70 schools in four regions, providing a safe learning environment for 14,000 children. In Kharkiv, more than 20 multifamily residential buildings have been rebuilt and renovated, and in the Mykolaiv region, they are providing heavy vehicles, firefighting equipment, and water supply systems, as well as repairing educational and medical facilities.
